Studio REDD’s designs are characterized by tranquility and ‘obviousness’.
We don’t want our designs to draw attention to themselves. After all, it is not about us, but about translating the lives of our clients and getting the best out of the place. We believe that a well-designed garden makes the difference between living somewhere or really feeling at home.

The REDD team consists of several specialists who are involved under the leadership of one permanent project architect. Our garden designs are functional and based on years of experience. The materials we use are modest and sustainable and ensure that the focus is mainly on the planting and experience of the seasons. How nice is it that the garden will become even more beautiful every year after completion when the plants fully develop?

As a studio, we have gained a lot of experience in (complex) construction projects. An open attitude and cooperation are crucial for us, as is daring to advise what is best for the whole of the project.

Garden design

A garden design starts with a thorough analysis. How is the house situated in the landscape, how is the sunlight throughout the day and what type of soil are we dealing with? Is there a high water level, the influence of salty sea wind and, for example, what about the life expectancy of the existing trees?

We combine the answers to these questions in our garden design with the wishes of the client and a passion for connecting indoors and outdoors. We often work together in a construction team with the architect and interior architect, but also with swimming pool builders, security experts and installers, among others. A powerful garden design needs a lot of attention in order to retain its essence.

During the lengthy process of building a house, it turns out that clients often find the garden one of the most enjoyable parts of the building process. That is the power of green that we passionately work on every day!

Estate design

An estate is designed on several scale levels at the same time. For example, you design wooded areas, open farmlands and water features on a large scale. On a smaller scale, a strong connection is made with the house and the garden.

When is something an estate? The (Dutch) government labels an estate as such when it is at least 5 hectares in size.

As a studio, we specialize in the design and development of (new) estates. We do this by combining our internal specialisms. For example, a landscape designer with extensive ecological and planning knowledge and a garden designer work on a project together. In this way we ensure that the plans are designed at all scale levels.

Roof Terrace Design

We design a roof terrace from two sides at the same time. You can see the wishes of the client as the ‘top’ and as the ‘bottom’ that which the building can safely support.

To design a roof terrace both beautifully and safely, extensive knowledge of the weight of each element is therefore required. As a studio, we have built up a database for this and we work together with a structural engineer on every project. In this way we have succeeded in designing and realizing roof terraces at a height of 70 meters, right on the coast with extreme winds or on an old factory with a sensitive supporting structure.

The teamwork and technical foundations that are essential when designing a roof terrace has become a specialist job that we are happy to work on!

Landscape design

A landscape design starts with a thorough analysis. What opportunities and potentials do we see? What valuable elements are there and how can we strengthen them in the future? Our field of work is broad. For example, we work on designs in rural areas, public spaces in (high) urban areas, roof gardens and care landscapes.

The broad composition of our team is our strength. Our landscape designers work closely with garden designers to develop the plans at all scale levels. This is reflected, for example, in our designs for estates where a landscape designer with extensive ecological and planning knowledge works together with a garden designer on one integrated plan.

The combination of these expertise and clear plans means that many clients keep returning and we have built up an ambitious and reliable network. This is a privilege, because on the basis of this relationship we can constantly strive for higher quality together.
